Made for Kansas City BBQ Championship Returns in September 2024

Kansas City’s culinary scene is renowned for its exceptional barbecue, and the Made for Kansas City BBQ Championship is a testament to this legacy. This year’s competition promises to showcase the city’s finest pitmasters as they vie for the grand prize – a one-year license contract to serve as the Pitmaster at the prestigious Kansas City BBQ Experience Restaurant at the new Kansas City International Airport. In addition to this remarkable opportunity, the winning pitmaster will receive a generous cash prize. The championship will be held during a ‘cooler’ season and at a new venue in Weston, MO, which will provide a refreshing change of pace for competitors and attendees. The event will commence on Friday, September 13th, with 50 teams setting up their stations in Weston. The following day, on Saturday, September 14th, certified judges from the Kansas City BBQ Society will conduct a Double-Blind Judging process, culminating in the announcement of the winner at Holladay Distilleries. The Made for Kansas City BBQ Championship is not only a celebration of barbecue but also a reflection of the city’s vibrant culinary culture. The winning pitmaster, cook team, and barbecue restaurant will receive global recognition, solidifying their place as culinary icons. OHM CEO Milan Patel expressed his enthusiasm for the unique nature of this event. ‘This type of event, where the winning pitmaster or cook team goes on to operate a barbecue restaurant, is the first of its kind globally,’ he said. The Made for Kansas City BBQ Championship is presented by the Kansas City Barbeque Society, OHM Concession Group, and Old-World Spices & Seasonings. It is an event not to be missed by barbecue enthusiasts and those seeking a taste of Kansas City’s culinary heritage.
