On Mother’s Day in 1929, Zehnder’s opened its doors and served 312 chicken dinners. Anticipating a grand celebration, Zehnder’s is gearing up to welcome approximately 5,000 guests for its 95th Mother’s Day celebration on Sunday, May 12th, 2024.

Albert Zehnder, the restaurant’s third-generation CEO and Chairman, has witnessed countless Mother’s Days on the serving floors, leading the James Beard award-winning restaurant with unwavering dedication.
Zehnder’s is a family-oriented business where every family member possesses multifaceted skills and contributes to its success. Members of the fourth generation will join the leadership team and work alongside over 350 restaurant employees to ensure a seamless and memorable day for guests.
The 1,500-seat restaurant will be bustling with activity, with guests enjoying a specially crafted Mother’s Day brunch at Z Chef’s Café. Zehnder’s will also host its annual Mother of the Year Contest, inviting individuals to submit poems honoring their chosen mothers. To enter, participants must compose a 50-word or less poem and include the name of the nominated mother, the submitter’s name, address, and daytime phone number.
