WestJet Launches Inaugural Non-Stop Flights Between Regina and Minneapolis

Regina International Airport (YQR) welcomed the inaugural non-stop flights to and from Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport (MSP) operated by WestJet on Sunday, April 28th, 2024. The new daily service marks a significant development for the City of Regina and the surrounding area, unlocking key opportunities for tourism and economic growth.

Andrew Gibbons, Vice President, External Affairs at WestJet, expressed the airline’s commitment to connecting Regina with Minneapolis. He noted that the new service aligns with WestJet Group’s strategy of expanding its presence in the West, making WestJet the sole carrier offering daily transborder connectivity from Regina International Airport this summer.

The WestJet service between YQR and MSP operates daily throughout the year, providing over 70 connections through the airline’s codeshare collaboration with Delta Air Lines. This enhanced connectivity offers a wide range of options for travelers in southern Saskatchewan seeking convenient access to the United States.

James Bogusz, President & CEO of the Regina Airport Authority, expressed his gratitude for the support received from the Province of Saskatchewan, community partners, and WestJet in making the new service a reality. He emphasized the importance of re-establishing daily, non-stop service to a major US hub for the region, which had not been available for the past eight years.

The launch of WestJet’s non-stop flights between Regina and Minneapolis represents a significant step forward in connecting the city and surrounding area to major destinations. It is expected to facilitate increased tourism, business travel, and economic activity, further strengthening the region’s ties with the United States.
