The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the 15-member Indian squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup, which will be jointly hosted by the USA and West Indies. The squad, led by skipper Rohit Sharma and vice-captain Hardik Pandya, was announced on Tuesday.

The selection committee has picked a balanced side, with a mix of experience and youthful exuberance. The batting lineup is led by Sharma, who has been in prolific form in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) season. He has scored 311 runs in 9 innings at an impressive strike rate of 160.30.

KL Rahul, who was initially named as vice-captain, has been ruled out of the tournament due to an injury. In his absence, Pandya will take on the vice-captaincy responsibilities. Pandya has also been in good form in the IPL, scoring 197 runs in 9 innings at a strike rate of 151.53.

The middle order will be bolstered by the likes of Suryakumar Yadav, who has amassed 249 runs in 9 innings at a strike rate of 154.65, and Rishabh Pant, who has scored 500 runs in 10 innings at a strike rate of 147.49.

The bowling attack is led by seasoned pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who has taken 4 wickets in 7 innings at an economy rate of 11.94. Yuzvendra Chahal, known for his wily leg-spin, has bagged 5 wickets in 9 innings at an impressive economy rate of 7.54.

The squad also includes all-rounders Ravichandran Ashwin, who has taken 9 wickets in 11 innings at an economy rate of 7.24, and Axar Patel, who has picked up 12 wickets in 8 innings while maintaining an economy rate of 8.51.

The Indian team will be hoping to put up a strong performance in the T20 World Cup and bring home the coveted trophy.
