BJP’s Karnataka State President Vijayendra Yediyurappa has denied knowledge of sexual abuse allegations against JD(S) leader Prajwal Revanna, despite claims from fellow BJP leader Devaraje Gowda that he had informed the party about the allegations in a letter. Yediyurappa has categorically stated that no such communication was received by him, nor was he aware of the existence of said videos.
Gowda had earlier brought these allegations to light, suggesting a communication gap within the party regarding concerns over alleged videos. However, Yediyurappa has criticized the delayed revelation by Karnataka’s Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, questioning why the Congress government waited until closer to the general elections to make the videos public. He accused them of engaging in drama and demanded an explanation for the delay in initiating investigations.
Meanwhile, Revanna has been suspended from the JD(S) following the public emergence of these allegations. The case, registered on April 28, is currently under investigation by a Special Investigation Team (SIT) constituted by the Karnataka government. Revanna faces charges under various sections of the IPC related to sexual harassment, intimidation, and outraging the dignity of a woman.
