AirAsia Cambodia Takes Flight with Inaugural Domestic Journey

AirAsia Cambodia has officially launched its domestic operations with an inaugural flight from Phnom Penh to Siem Reap, marking a significant milestone in the country’s tourism industry. The flight, KT102, departed from Phnom Penh International Airport at 7:40 am local time and touched down at Siem Reap Angkor International Airport at 8:30 am with nearly full passenger capacity. The launch of the domestic flights is a testament to AirAsia Cambodia’s commitment to enriching travel connectivity within the country, offering accessible and convenient travel options for both Cambodian residents and visitors. Vissoth Nam, CEO of AirAsia Cambodia, highlighted the significance of the inaugural flights, stating, “The launch of our first domestic flights today marks the beginning of a new chapter in Cambodia’s tourism industry, one where accessibility meets affordability.” He emphasized the role of AirAsia Cambodia in empowering Cambodians to explore their own country and fostering economic prosperity through increased tourism and business opportunities. The timing of AirAsia Cambodia’s domestic flight launch coincides with the government’s concerted efforts to attract more tourists to Siem Reap through the recently launched ‘Visit Siem Reap 2024’ campaign. AirAsia Cambodia’s affordable travel options are expected to support the government’s tourism initiatives and make regional exploration more accessible to all. Bo Lingam, Group CEO of AirAsia Aviation Group, expressed his honor in celebrating the birth of AirAsia Cambodia, the seventh AirAsia branded airline. He noted, “Leveraging our strong foothold in ASEAN, AirAsia Cambodia is set to provide connectivity to over 130 destinations across Asia and beyond.” With a proven track record of unlocking opportunities in underserved markets, AirAsia Cambodia aims to catalyze a new era in Cambodia’s tourism industry and economy. In addition to the domestic routes, AirAsia Cambodia operates internationally to Cambodia from its Kuala Lumpur and Bangkok hubs, with a total of 63 weekly flights. The airline’s commitment to enhancing travel within the country is further solidified by its daily flights between Phnom Penh, Siem Reap, and Sihanoukville, which commenced on the day of the inaugural domestic flight.
