Michelle Hadwen’s family and the Edmonton Police Service (EPS) are determined to find answers and bring justice for her untimely death. Fifteen years have passed since Michelle’s life was cut short, but the pain and unanswered questions linger on.
On October 5, 2009, Michelle was last seen leaving the York Hotel. A few hours later, tragedy struck as she was found critically injured in the early hours of October 6. Despite being rushed to the hospital, Michelle succumbed to her injuries two days later.
Since then, EPS has diligently pursued every lead, interviewing associates, friends, and individuals who crossed paths with Michelle. However, the case has remained unsolved, leaving a void in the lives of her loved ones.
Determined to break the impasse, EPS Historical Homicide Section is appealing to the public for renewed assistance. They have released video footage and photographs of Michelle, hoping they will spark memories and lead to crucial information.
Investigators know Michelle frequented various establishments in the 95 Street and 118 Avenue area, including Reno’s Pub, The Hub, and The York Hotel. They believe someone may hold a piece of the puzzle that could help complete Michelle’s story.
Michelle spent several hours at the York Hotel on the evening of October 5, 2009, interacting with others. After leaving around 9 pm, she was last seen walking westbound on 104 Avenue.
EPS emphasizes that even seemingly minor details can be instrumental in unraveling the truth. They urge anyone who may have seen Michelle between 9 pm on October 5 and the time she was found injured on October 6 to come forward.
The Homicide Section acknowledges that Michelle had a transient lifestyle. They are keen to connect with individuals who encountered her, whether it was a brief conversation, a business transaction, a car ride, or even a casual encounter on public transit.
Every piece of information, however small, could help piece together the events leading to Michelle’s tragic end. The EPS and Michelle’s family hold out hope that the collective memory of the community will shed light on this unsolved homicide and bring closure to their hearts.
