Planned Rail Disruptions on the West Coast and Chiltern Railways Routes over May Bank Holiday

Enhancements on the West Coast Main Line

Track and drainage enhancements are underway on the West Coast main line between Birmingham and London during the early May bank holiday to improve the reliability of passenger and freight services. Passengers can expect increased travel times, limited seating, and potential replacement bus services. Key updates include:

* Line closures and reduced services between Birmingham New Street and Coventry
* Line closures and reduced services between Coventry and London Euston

Disruptions on the Chiltern Railways Route

Due to ongoing HS2 construction, the Chiltern Railways route between Aylesbury and Marylebone will also experience disruptions. Adjustments include:

* Reduced services between Aylesbury and London Marylebone
* Rail replacement bus services between Aylesbury and Amersham

Plan Ahead and Check Before You Travel

Network Rail and train operators advise passengers to plan their journeys in advance, check for updates frequently, and allow extra time for travel. Passengers should also be prepared for limited seating and potential rail replacement bus services.

Martin Colmey, operations director for Network Rail’s Central route, said: “We appreciate the continued patience of passengers as we carry out this essential maintenance and construction work. We advise everyone to plan ahead and check before they travel to ensure a smooth journey.”
