Owaisi Urges Muslims to Learn from Rajputs’ Response to Unparliamentary Remarks

All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi has urged Muslims to awaken and learn from the Rajput community’s response to unparliamentary remarks made against their community, particularly those uttered by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Owaisi noted that Rajputs throughout the country have expressed their outrage, hurt sentiments, and determination to defeat the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) at all costs in response to similar statements made by Union Minister Parshottam Rupala. He emphasized that Muslims, as the largest minority in India, should emulate the Rajputs’ approach to confronting derogatory statements coming from the Prime Minister. Owaisi condemned the Prime Minister’s repeated use of the term ‘jihadi’ and questioned its meaning. He criticized Modi’s remarks on Muslim women giving birth to more children and threats to Hindu women’s ‘mangalsutra’ as divisive and hateful. Earlier in April, Owaisi had taken strong exception to Modi’s ‘ghuspaithiya’ jibe, asserting that the real infiltrators are the Chinese troops occupying Indian territory in Ladakh and other regions. He challenged the Prime Minister to drive them out if he had the courage. On May 1, Owaisi drew parallels between the situation of Muslims in India today and that of Jews in Germany during the era of dictator Adolf Hitler. He said, ‘The position of Muslims in today’s India is the same as the situation which Jews witnessed or experienced during Hitler’s era in the 1930s. The gas chamber was the last step; before that, movies were made, hate speeches took place, there was a whole process to it.’ In the meantime, Owaisi, who has filed his nomination from the Hyderabad Lok Sabha constituency, alleged that the BJP has fielded a newcomer, Madhavi Latha, as its candidate despite her record of exploiting poor people during the COVID-19 pandemic at a hospital she chaired. In his campaign speech in Rajasthan on April 22, Modi had alluded to Muslims when he alleged that the Congress plans to give people’s hard-earned money and valuables to ‘infiltrators.’ Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi criticized Modi’s remark, stating that the country has been free for the past 75 years, with Congress in power for 55 of those years. She questioned, ‘Did Congress ever snatch your gold or ‘mangalsutra’?’
