Woman Chased by ‘Four Men in Scorpio’ on National Highway-1, Shares Harrowing Experience

A woman driving on National Highway-1 claimed she was chased by ‘four men in Scorpio’ for nearly 7 kilometers. The incident was shared on social media, sparking outrage among netizens. The woman, Harmeen Soch, described the harrowing experience in a post on May 9, sharing a video of the car in front of her vehicle. She stated that the men tailgated her, slowed down ahead of her, and even stopped at a petrol pump to catch up with her, despite her efforts to let them pass. Soch ultimately managed to get away from her pursuers by speeding up and turning left at a slip road without using an indicator.

The incident highlights the safety concerns faced by women on Indian roads, with netizens condemning the actions of the men and urging the woman to report the incident to the police. One user commented, ‘Must have been harrowing…Unfortunately with our desi ego mindset these incidents are normalised. Highway Patrols are nowhere to be found. An DDR afterwards is futile; nothing happens. Hope all okes with you Harmeen.’ Another added, ‘Harmeen, it happened in which stretch of GT road. In future, take following action, once you are confirmed that they are upto some mischief. Ring up police. Hit nearest police Naka for help. Hit nearest petrol station and request tag along with another family vehicle.’ One user suggested, ‘Not sure about the social media support but stopping the car in a side, without opening the door, starting a FB/Insta live and sharing your ordeal with netizens would have probably alerted the authorities!’

The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of women’s safety and the need for stricter enforcement of traffic laws to prevent such harassment on Indian roads.
