In the early hours of Wednesday, tragedy struck in the Veerapur Oni village of Hubbali, Karnataka, as a 20-year-old woman named Anjali Ambigera was brutally stabbed to death in her own home. The alleged perpetrator, 21-year-old Girish Sawant, had reportedly been persistent in his pursuit of a romantic relationship with Anjali, but she had repeatedly declined his advances.
The incident unfolded when Sawant entered Anjali’s residence while she was asleep and repeatedly stabbed her with a knife. The accused, who is employed as an auto driver, fled the scene after the attack and remains at large.
The police have initiated an investigation to determine the motive behind the tragic incident and have formed a team to apprehend the perpetrator. Anjali’s body has been transferred to KIMS hospital in Hubballi for further examination.
This shocking murder comes less than a month after the horrific incident involving the murder of 23-year-old college student Neha Hiremath in Hubbali. The accused in that case, Fayaz Khondunaik, was arrested within hours of the incident.
The authorities are urging anyone with information regarding Sawant’s whereabouts to come forward. The community is reeling from this senseless act of violence, and justice is sought for the victim and her family.
