The case of sexual harassment against Revanna and his son, Prajwal Revanna, was registered at the Holenarsipur town police station in Hassan district on April 28. The alleged victim, a 47-year-old house help, had accused the duo of sexually abusing her at Revanna’s house.
The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the case had issued notices to Revanna and Prajwal to join the investigation, but both of them skipped it. Revanna had earlier filed a bail application in connection with the case.
On Thursday, Revanna applied for anticipatory bail. The SIT objected to this and sought his custody or that he be remanded in judicial custody. However, Revanna’s lawyer argued that it was a bailable case.
After hearing both sides, the court decided to hear the matter again on Friday and till then gave relief to Revanna. The court had earlier granted Revanna conditional bail in the kidnapping case linked to the ‘obscene video’ case. He was released from jail on Monday after furnishing a bond of Rs 5 lakh.
The SIT is also probing the kidnapping case against Revanna and his son. The case was registered after a woman alleged that she was kidnapped by one of the accused in the sexual harassment case and taken to Revanna’s house, where she was allegedly sexually abused.
