The gathering of officials and dignitaries took place at the Expo Center PÉCS to mark the 20th anniversary of the establishment of friendly relations between China’s Zhejiang province and Hungary’s Baranya County. This significant milestone was celebrated alongside the opening of the ‘Oriental Aesthetics Exhibition: Encountering Poetic Zhejiang in the 24 Solar Terms,’ which displayed China’s rich cultural heritage through the traditional solar terms.
The event was a joint effort between the governments of Zhejiang province and Baranya County, supported by Zhejiang’s Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism and its Department of Foreign Affairs. Approximately 150 guests attended, including notable figures such as Yi Lianhong, Secretary of the Zhejiang Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Provincial People’s Congress; Őri László, President of the Baranya County Assembly; Sun Jie, Cultural Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Hungary; and Chen Guangsheng, Director of the Zhejiang Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism.
The exhibition was organized into four themed sections: ‘Spring – Honoring Life,’ ‘Summer – Embracing Prosperity,’ ‘Autumn – Sharing Sweetness,’ and ‘Winter – Meditation.’ Each section highlighted the profound philosophical and cultural insights of traditional Chinese culture as it relates to the solar terms, emphasizing China’s harmonious and philosophical engagement with nature.
The event not only celebrated two decades of partnership but also set the stage for ongoing cultural exchanges and cooperation, strengthening the ties and collaborative prospects between Zhejiang and Baranya.
