Indochina Rail Tourist Service Joint Stock Company and Wafaifo Optimisers have joined forces to introduce the Revolution Express, an extraordinary steam train attraction in central Vietnam. This one-of-a-kind experience is expected to commence in late 2024 or early 2025, offering an unforgettable journey through Vietnam’s rich history and picturesque landscapes.
The centerpiece of the Revolution Express is the meticulous restoration of two iconic steam locomotives from the 1960s. These locomotives, remnants of Vietnam’s pre-independence era, have been carefully brought back to life using original parts and the expertise of the nation’s last remaining steam engineers.
The train will consist of two retro-styled carriages, accommodating up to 57 passengers each. Along with these, there will be a custom-made kitchen carriage and a baggage carriage. The carriages have been tastefully designed to provide a nostalgic ambiance, allowing passengers to step back in time while enjoying the comforts of modern amenities.
The Revolution Express will embark on a daily round trip between the vibrant city of Danang and the former imperial capital, Hue. The journey will traverse the breathtaking Hai Van coastal mountain range, renowned for its dramatic scenery. Passengers will be captivated by the panoramic views of the coastline and mountain passes, making this train ride an unforgettable experience.
To further enhance the experience, the Revolution Express will incorporate themed dining options at three railway stations along the route: Kim Lien (Danang), Lang Co, and Hue. Each station will offer unique menus and entertainment, immersing passengers in the history and culture of Vietnam.
The train stations, with their charming restaurants and retail offerings, are designed to attract not only Revolution Express passengers but also travelers using other modes of transportation. In Hue, the original train maintenance building has been transformed into the Station Restaurant, boasting an imperial theme that reflects the city’s rich historical significance. In Lang Co, the restaurant will celebrate Vietnam’s independence, while in Danang, a colonial-style restaurant is planned to pay homage to a distinct era in the country’s past.
Upon the arrival of the Revolution Express at each station, a brass band, adorned in military regalia, will greet disembarking guests, adding to the nostalgic atmosphere.
Wafaifo Optimisers, known for its expertise in tourism, will oversee the operations of the Revolution Express, including marketing, booking, and catering. The company’s involvement ensures a seamless and memorable experience for all passengers.
The launch of the Revolution Express is eagerly anticipated, offering a unique blend of history, culture, and stunning scenery. It is set to become a must-do attraction for tourists visiting central Vietnam, providing an unforgettable glimpse into the country’s rich past and vibrant present. Further updates on the launch date and booking details will be announced in the coming months.
