Wulong District Celebrates 30 Years of Tourism Excellence

On May 20, Wulong District in Chongqing Municipality, located in southwest China, celebrated the 30th anniversary of its tourism sector’s accomplishments and future aspirations during China Tourism Day, as announced by the local authorities. The district, often referred to as the “World Karst Ecological Museum”, is renowned for its diverse natural features, including massive sinkholes, rifts, grasslands, canyons, waterfalls, karst caves, forests, and rivers. In its latest efforts, Wulong has been focusing on enhancing six primary cultural and tourism sectors: experiential education, sports, arts, health and wellness, weddings and matchmaking, and service industries. Throughout the year, the district will host an array of engaging events to attract visitors worldwide. These include the Fairy Mountain ice and snow festival, the Fairy Mountain flight festival, the Fairy Mountain international camping music festival, the earth art festival, an outdoor sports event, a pine-climbing contest, and a Harley motorcycle music festival. The area’s rich cultural mosaic is further enriched by the local Tujia and Miao ethnic communities. Their traditional collective wedding ceremonies have drawn numerous couples from across the nation eager to partake in these cultural practices. Among these initiatives, the China International Mountain Outdoor Sports Open (Chongqing-Wulong), now in its 18th year, stands out as one of the most prestigious, large-scale, and high-profile outdoor cross-country competitions globally.
