The NetJets Association of Shared Aircraft Pilots (NJASAP) reports a deterioration in labor relations with Columbus-based NetJets, a fractional air carrier. This comes shortly after the signing of a five-year collective bargaining agreement following a contentious labor dispute.
NJASAP accuses the company of targeting an elected NJASAP official for a disciplinary investigation over lawful union picketing. The Union sees this as an act of retaliation and intimidation. NJASAP emphasizes the need for collaboration and a focus on growth amidst unprecedented demand, but expresses regret over management’s lack of interest in accepting their peace offering.
During a recent three-hour meeting, NJASAP Vice President Paulette Gilbert faced interrogation and requests for details about Union activities, including those conducted by the Union’s strategy group. The NJASAP Executive Board views this as a direct attack on the Union and its elected officials.
NJASAP President Pedro Leroux states that they will not allow this effort to bully and intimidate Union leaders to go unanswered. He highlights Gilbert’s contributions to securing a $1.6B increase in the value of their contract and expresses the Union’s support for her.
The souring labor relations at NetJets highlight the ongoing challenges in balancing the interests of management and labor in the aviation industry.
