Prepare for a Busy Summer Travel Season at Reagan National and Dulles Airports
As summer approaches, Reagan National and Dulles International airports are gearing up for a surge in passenger numbers that is expected to surpass last year’s record levels. The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority has issued several helpful tips and tricks to assist travelers in navigating the anticipated crowds and making their journeys as smooth and enjoyable as possible.
Streamlining International Travel
For international travelers, the Airports Authority encourages the use of the free Mobile Passport Control app. This app allows users to submit their travel documentation, photos, and customs declaration via their mobile devices, significantly reducing inspection and wait times during U.S. entry. Additionally, Global Entry members can bypass standard procedures by using specialized Global Entry terminals, ensuring faster processing without paperwork or automated kiosks.
New Amenities and Concessions
Travelers can also take advantage of new dining and shopping options at both airports. Reagan National now features several new dining establishments, while Dulles International has introduced new shopping and dining options as well.
New Flights and Destinations
Dulles International welcomes four new airlines this year, bringing the total to 43. New nonstop services include Swiss International Airlines to Zurich, Sun Country to Minneapolis, Aeromexico to Mexico City, and Avelo to New Haven. Additional destinations like Phoenix, Punta Gorda, and Anchorage have been introduced by existing carriers, with more announcements expected. Reagan National has also expanded its route offerings, with American Airlines initiating flights to Wichita and Hyannis. Flights to Bermuda have also resumed this spring.
By following these tips and taking advantage of the new amenities and services, travelers can make their summer journeys through Reagan National and Dulles International airports as seamless and stress-free as possible.
