The Muscle Car Cruisers of Alberta (MCCA) are gearing up for their fifth annual toy drive on Sunday, May 26th. The event aims to support children fighting cancer by collecting brand-new unwrapped toys. MCCA founder Tracy Forsyth-Lundy encourages the public to participate, stating that all they need to do is bring a toy to join the cause. The donated toys will be distributed to Kids Cancer Care (KCC) and the Alberta Children’s Hospital (ACH), providing a source of joy and encouragement to young patients. Forsyth-Lundy expresses her pride in using their passion for cars for a meaningful purpose. Among the MCCA members participating in the toy drive is the Aguilar family, who have experienced firsthand the challenges of childhood cancer. Their 13-year-old daughter, Aurora, has been receiving treatment at the ACH for leukemia. Despite enduring chemotherapy and other treatments, Aurora’s unwavering spirit and the support of the Children’s Hospital have given her strength in her battle. The MCCA toy drive not only provides toys but also offers an opportunity for ACH patients and their families to witness the impressive MCCA vehicles. Forsyth-Lundy explains that they make a point of driving by the hospital so that children who are unable to attend the event can still experience the joy of seeing the cars. The toy drive will take place from 10 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 26th, in the parking lot on the west side of McMahon Stadium. Aurora Aguilar recognizes the significance of the toys for children fighting cancer, describing them as a “little spark of joy” that can make a positive impact on their day. The MCCA’s dedication to using their love of cars to support a worthy cause exemplifies the power of community spirit and the unwavering resilience of children facing adversity.
