The shocking details of the murder of Bangladeshi Member of Parliament (MP) Anwarul Azim Anar have emerged after his body was found in Kolkata, India. Anar, a representative of Jhenaidah-4 constituency, entered India on May 12 but went missing on May 18. His family friend, Gopal Viswas, filed a missing complaint in Kolkata’s Bidhannagar.
According to West Bengal CID investigators, the plot to kill Anar was meticulously planned in January in Bangladesh’s capital city, Dhaka. The MP’s close friend, a US citizen, allegedly visited Dhaka multiple times and used virtual platforms like Facetime and Telegram to communicate with accomplices. It is believed that he paid around 5 crore rupees to those involved in the crime.
The investigation has revealed that a Bangladeshi butcher, illegally brought to India, assisted in the execution of the murder. Anar was reportedly strangulated first and then his body was chopped into pieces. The butcher dismembered the body, removing the flesh and bones and washing them to conceal his identity.
Police have stated that some parts of the body, including the skull and long bones, were cut using a chopper. The murder took place inside a rented flat, with the bathroom used for the gruesome dismemberment. The culprits cleaned the scene using water and detergent before consuming food and alcohol.
The brutal nature of the murder and the sophisticated planning behind it have shocked both India and Bangladesh. The investigation is ongoing, with the police seeking more arrests and exploring the motives behind the assassination.
