Responding to a house fire on Wednesday night, Regina firefighters discovered a heartbreaking scene: four beloved pets had succumbed to the flames. However, a glimmer of hope emerged as one cat and one dog were rescued and taken to the Regina Humane Society (RHS) for urgent medical care.
After a thorough search of the premises, officials confirmed that no human occupants had been injured. Sadly, the canine companion taken to RHS later had to be euthanized due to the severity of its injuries.
The cause of the fire has been officially deemed “accidental in nature,” and the investigation remains underway. The incident unfolded on the 6900 block of 1st Avenue North, leaving the community reeling from this tragic loss.
