The discovery of Musankwa Sanyatiensis marks the fourth dinosaur species to be named in Zimbabwe, following previous findings such as Syntarsus rhodesiensis, Vulcanodon karibaensis, and Mbiresaurus raathi. The research team consisted of scientists from the University of the Witwatersrand in South Africa, the Natural History Museum of Zimbabwe, and Stony Brook University in New York, led by Professor Paul Barrett of the Natural History Museum in London. Notably, this discovery adds to a growing body of evidence regarding the diversity and distribution of dinosaur species during the Late Triassic period, providing valuable insights into the evolutionary history of these ancient creatures.
