YouTube influencer Alex Choi, known online as Suk Min Choi, has been arrested and charged with directing a stunt in which two women shot fireworks at a Lamborghini from a helicopter. The stunt, recorded on video, was posted on YouTube but has since been deleted. Choi could face up to 10 years in prison if convicted.
The video, titled “Destroying a Lamborghini with Fireworks,” was posted on Choi’s YouTube channel on July 4, 2023. It has since been deleted from all social media platforms. However, the video was shared on Instagram by the news website Daily Mail.
According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Central District of California, Choi directed the entire stunt, which also included carrying explosive items on the helicopter. The aircraft was seen flying near the ground without filming permits.
Choi, a San Fernando Valley resident, enjoys a massive fan following on Instagram, with over a million followers. He claims to present his audience with “the greatest car shenanigans” and frequently shares videos of car stunts. One of the videos he shared on Instagram was of him accelerating his Lamborghini through a gas station car wash.
The video is believed to have been recorded on the El Mirage Dry Lakebed in San Bernardino County, California. If convicted, Choi could face a statutory maximum sentence of 10 years in federal prison.
