Poundland has unveiled its latest customer loyalty initiative, offering points and exclusive promotions to shoppers. Dubbed Poundland Perks, the loyalty scheme is currently being piloted in 62 stores across Scotland, following a successful trial in Northern Ireland. The program is set to expand UK-wide later this year. Through the Poundland Perks app, available on Apple and Google Play, customers can accumulate 100 points for every £1 spent at Poundland. However, to unlock the full benefits, shoppers must accumulate 5,000 points, which equates to spending £50. This amount can be accumulated over multiple transactions. While working towards the £1 off voucher, members will also receive digital vouchers for up to 25 promotional products from various categories, which rotate regularly. These vouchers can be redeemed during checkout by scanning the barcode on the app, subject to expiry dates. It’s important to note that only one voucher can be used per transaction, and the cost of goods must exceed the value of the voucher as no change is given. In addition to these discounts, Poundland Perks incorporates spin-to-win competitions for the chance to win physical prizes or additional loyalty points. The launch of the loyalty scheme is part of Poundland’s digital transformation strategy, which has already seen the revamping of its digital arm and website in 2023. Poundland director of digital, Tom Hill, emphasized the convenience and value offered by Poundland Perks, stating that it allows customers to save, earn, and play through their smartphones, making shopping more enjoyable. The retailer has also recently introduced a new in-store meal deal for £3, providing shoppers with a wide selection of main items, drinks, and sides to choose from.
