Tragic Loss: 1.5-Year-Old Girl Dies After Falling into Borewell in Gujarat
A heart-wrenching incident unfolded in Surajpura village, Amreli district of Gujarat, on Friday, when a one-and-a-half-year-old girl died after falling into a 50-foot-deep borewell. The tragic accident occurred around 12:30 PM, leaving the toddler stranded inside the narrow shaft.
An immediate rescue operation was launched, involving the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and the local fire department. The borewell, which was approximately 500 feet deep, posed a significant challenge to the rescue team. The girl was trapped at a depth of around 50 feet, making it difficult to reach her.
Despite valiant efforts, the rescue operation took a tragic turn. The girl was retrieved from the borewell at 5:10 AM on Saturday, but she was unconscious and unresponsive. She was rushed to the Amreli Civil Hospital, where doctors declared her dead. The news of her demise has sent shockwaves through the community.

An NDRF team from Gandhinagar was subsequently deployed to assist in the rescue efforts, arriving at the scene around 10:20 PM on Friday. Oxygen was provided to the girl through the 108 ambulance service team throughout the operation, in an attempt to keep her alive. However, no movement was observed during the early hours of the rescue operation.
