New York-based restaurant Sona is closing its doors after just 10 months, marking the end of a brief but notable chapter in the culinary world. The announcement was made on Wednesday via the restaurant’s official Instagram page, stating that Sona’s final service will be brunch on Sunday, June 30th.
Sona was a collaborative venture between actress Priyanka Chopra Jonas and her friend and former business partner, Maneesh K Goyal. It opened in 2021, a time when the world was still grappling with the COVID-19 pandemic and restrictions were in place.
The restaurant’s Instagram post expressed gratitude for its patrons and dedicated team: “After more than three remarkable years, Sona will be closing. We have immense gratitude for everyone who walked through our doors. It’s been our greatest honor to serve you. “Thank you to our dedicated team who serve delicious food, smiles & warmth daily. Sona’s final service will be brunch on Sunday, June 30. We hope to see you for a final meal or drink. Our doors and arms are open.”
Chopra Jonas, who is currently filming her upcoming movie “The Bluff” in Australia, stepped away from her involvement with Sona last August. The restaurant’s name, “Sona,” which translates to “gold” in Hindi, was a suggestion from the actress’s husband, singer Nick Jonas.
