Get ready for the final showdown in the Montana ranch. Paramount Network has announced that the second part of Yellowstone season 5 will premiere on Sunday, November 10, 2024, at 8 p.m. ET/PT. This marks the final season of the popular cable TV series, which began in 2018.
The first part of season 5 aired from November 13, 2022, to January 1, 2023, consisting of eight episodes. Production for the remaining six episodes of season 5 began in Montana on May 20, 2023. Series creator Taylor Sheridan has hinted that more episodes might be added if necessary.
Yellowstone follows the Dutton family, who own and operate the largest contiguous cattle ranch in the United States. The ranch’s sprawling land is constantly in conflict with those surrounding it, including an expanding town, an Indian reservation, and America’s first national park.
Season 5, part 2 will see the return of key cast members including Luke Grimes as Kayce Dutton, Kelly Reilly as Bethany “Beth” Dutton, Wes Bentley as Jamie Dutton, Cole Hauser as Rip Wheeler, Kelsey Asbille as Monica Long Dutton, and Gil Birmingham as Chief Thomas Rainwater. Brecken Merrill, Denim Richards, Forrie J. Smith, Ian Bohen, Jen Landon, Finn Little, and Ryan Bingham will also reprise their roles.
However, the future of John Dutton, played by Kevin Costner, remains unclear. In May 2023, Paramount announced that Costner would be leaving the series at the end of season 5. The departure has been marked by a public feud between Costner, Sheridan, and Paramount that has lasted for over a year. Despite the conflict, Costner has expressed interest in returning to complete his character’s arc.
With the premiere date set and the final season looming, fans of the show can expect a dramatic and action-packed conclusion to the Dutton family’s story. As the season progresses, tensions will rise, and the fate of the Yellowstone Dutton Ranch and its inhabitants will hang in the balance.
