Reliance Jio, India’s largest telecom provider led by Mukesh Ambani’s son Akash Ambani, has announced a series of new unlimited 5G plans effective from July 3. These plans come with a significant tariff hike, ranging from 12.5 to 25 percent, reflecting the company’s investment in 5G and AI technology.
The new tariff plans offer a variety of options, starting from Rs 189 for 2 GB per month to Rs 3,599 for a 2.5 GB per day annual plan. All plans exceeding 2 GB per day provide unlimited 5G data.
Akash Ambani, in a statement, highlighted the importance of these new plans in fostering industry innovation and sustainable growth. He emphasized the role of affordable and ubiquitous internet access in the realization of Digital India, stating that Jio is committed to prioritizing the country and its customers.
The tariff increase comes shortly after the conclusion of the spectrum auction on Wednesday, in which Reliance Jio, having placed a maximum EMD of Rs 3000 crore, spent a mere Rs 970 crore. This strategic move showcases Jio’s commitment to expanding its 5G infrastructure and providing enhanced services to its customers.
