China’s ‘Train of Glamour’ recently unveiled its latest luxury offering, the ‘Silk Road Express,’ set to debut on July 6th. This new train, designed to elevate domestic tourism, embodies the brand’s commitment to crafting international-quality tourist trains that seamlessly blend cultural immersion with opulent travel experiences.
The ‘Silk Road Express’ is China’s first tourism train meticulously crafted to international standards. It takes inspiration from the rich tapestry of the Silk Road, infusing oriental aesthetics into every detail. The train’s exterior, a masterpiece designed by Tsinghua University’s Academy of Arts & Design, sets the stage for a journey through time and culture.
Stepping aboard is akin to entering a mobile art castle. Designed by renowned Hirsch Bedner Associates (HBA), the train boasts a five-star hotel-style boarding lobby, expansive panoramic windows, and a curated collection of domestic and international artworks, alongside valuable antique treasures. The 15 carriages offer a haven of luxury, featuring fully private cabins, lounge salons, Chinese and Western dining cars, and multifunctional carriages for entertainment.
Guests can choose from two captivating itineraries. The five-day, four-night journey takes travelers through deserts, gobis, and salt lakes, stopping at iconic sites like Dunhuang, the revered Kumbum Monastery in Xining, and the ethereal salt lakes. For a more comprehensive experience, the nine-day, eight-night ‘train + car’ option explores the entire Qinghai-Gansu Grand Loop, visiting Dunhuang, Jiayuguan, Zhangye, Wuwei, and Lanzhou, uncovering treasures like the Kumarajiva Temple, Jiayuguan Pass, Yulin Caves, and the vibrant Danxia landforms of Zhangye.
Throughout their journeys, guests can immerse themselves in the unique northwest Chinese culture, savoring local delights such as alpine grassland-style hot pot. A dedicated team of five vacation ambassadors and professional train stewards ensure round-the-clock attentive service, while two travel photographers capture every memorable moment of the adventure.
