Michelin Guide Dubai 2024: New Stars Shine in the Culinary Scene

The highly-awaited Michelin Guide Dubai 2024 has been released, with new restaurants joining the coveted list and others retaining their stars. The 2024 Michelin Guide Dubai awards were held last night, with the red carpet event at the newly-opened One&Only Za’abeel hotel attracting the A-listers of the city’s dining scene. The long-anticipated list for the year curated by the anonymous Michelin Inspectors features 106 restaurants across 35 different cuisines, reflecting Dubai’s diverse and burgeoning culinary scene.

In its third edition, the Michelin Guide Dubai has recognized four new One Michelin Star restaurants, one new Two Michelin Stars establishment, and six new Bib Gourmands. “Dubai is now truly recognized as an international gastronomic destination and its impressive development continues year on year,” says Gwendal Poullennec, international director of The Michelin Guides. “Its appeal isn’t just with international travelers or local gourmets; talented chefs and restaurateurs from around the world are now also attracted by its vibrant dining scene and arrive keen to make their own mark in the city. With so many different styles of restaurants and types of cuisine, there really is something for everyone.”

Joining Two Michelin Stars-retainers Il Ristorante-Niko Romito, Stay by Yannick Alléno, and Trèsind Studio in the category is Row on 45. The restaurant helmed by acclaimed British chef Jason Atherton makes its debut in the guide by topping the list. Atherton was visibly emotional as he accepted the award, and acknowledged the win was “my dream ever since I was a little boy”. Located on the 45th floor of The Grosvenor House, the restaurant is known for combining Japanese ingredients and French techniques in an exclusive tasting menu for 22 people.

La Dame de Pic, Orfali Bros, Sagetsu by Tetsuya, and Smoked Room all received their first Michelin Star. Led by French chef Anne-Sophie Pic, La Dame de Pic has immediately impressed diners upon its launch with its modern and refined French menus. A firm favorite with the region’s food critics and tastemakers, Orfali Bros is seen as a well-deserved recipient of its award, with the three Syrian brothers offering their flavorsome take on small plates. Another new launch for 2024, Smoked Room hosts just 14 diners per seating for its ‘fire omakase’ experience, led by Chef Dani Garcia. Smoked Room’s Jesus Loboto Suarez was also acknowledged with the Young Chef Award. Chef Tetsuya Wakuda’s Sagetsu by Tetsuya rounds out the four newcomers, with a nod to its chic Japanese meets French fusion.

The six restaurants that have received Bib Gourmands are Duo Gastrobar, Revelry, Berenjak, Hoe Lee Kow, Reif Japanese Kushiyaki, Konjiki Hototogiso.
