The Trinbago Knight Riders Women have announced their retained players and new signings for the upcoming 2024 Massy Women’s Caribbean Premier League (WCPL) season. The defending champions have retained five Caribbean players: captain Deandra Dottin, wicketkeeper Kycia Knight, speedster Shamila Connell, and upcoming players Zaida James and Samara Ramnath. They have also signed four international stars, adding significant depth and experience to their squad.
Joining the TKR Women are Australian legends Meg Lanning and Jess Jonassen, along with Indian superstars Jemimah Rodrigues and Shikha Pandey. This impressive lineup of international talent promises to make the Trinbago Knight Riders a formidable force in the WCPL.
Jemimah Rodrigues, currently representing India in the T20I series against South Africa, expressed her excitement about joining the Knight Riders. “This is the first time I’ll be coming to the WCPL,” she said. “I’ve played for India in the Caribbean quite a bit, but I’m really excited that I’ll be representing the Knight Riders in WCPL. We all know the legacy that they have across the globe.” She also highlighted that the WCPL will serve as valuable preparation for the Women’s World T20 in October.
The addition of these four international stars to the already strong TKR Women’s squad is sure to make the 2024 WCPL season even more competitive and exciting. Fans are eagerly anticipating the tournament, which promises to showcase some of the best women’s cricketers in the world.
