Swiss WorldCargo Expands Partnership with WFS at Milan Malpensa Airport

Swiss WorldCargo, the airfreight division of Swiss International Air Lines, has expanded its partnership with Worldwide Flight Services (WFS) by appointing them as its air cargo ground handling partner at Milan Malpensa Airport. This new agreement will see WFS handling 2,000 tonnes of cargo annually for Swiss WorldCargo’s 28 weekly flights to the Italian city.

Swiss WorldCargo operates narrowbody Airbus A320/321 and Embraer aircraft on its Milan route, and WFS will utilize its modern cargo handling facilities at Milan Malpensa to provide comprehensive ground handling services. In addition to the air cargo handling, WFS will continue to provide road feeder services connecting Milan and Zurich six days a week.

The decision to appoint WFS as its air cargo ground handling partner was driven by the company’s extensive operations, modern facilities, and capability to offer specialized solutions for Swiss WorldCargo’s high-value, care-intensive, and temperature-sensitive shipments.

“We’re glad to extend our already solid collaboration with WFS to another key station of our cargo operations, Milan Malpensa,” said Christian Wyss, Head of Cargo Offering Development & Steering at Swiss International Air Lines. “With a significant number of weekly flights and tonnes of cargo transported between Milan and Zurich, we need an air cargo ground handling partner that knows our business well and can operate to the high-quality standards that we provide our customers globally. WFS can do that.”

“We are proud that Swiss WorldCargo has extended its air cargo ground handling partnership with WFS to Milan Malpensa,” said Massimiliano Introini, WFS’ Managing Director Italy. “The quality of Swiss WorldCargo’s products and services is highly respected across the industry, and we value the airfreight division’s confidence in our ability to meet these high standards.”

WFS has invested in its warehouse terminal, implementing digitalized processes and adding extra equipment to enhance its ULD and Pharma Handling capabilities, further solidifying its commitment to providing high-quality services to its clients.

This expanded partnership reinforces the long-standing relationship between Swiss WorldCargo and WFS, demonstrating their shared commitment to providing efficient and reliable air cargo services across their global networks.
