The 7th South Pacific Tourism Exchange (SPTE), organized by the Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation, Fiji, and the Pacific Tourism Organization (SPTO) through a local collaboration, took place in Nadi, Fiji, on May 4-5, 2024. This successful event solidified partnerships and a shared commitment to sustainable tourism in the Pacific by offering a platform to promote the region’s unique experiences.
SPTE 2024 attracted tourism professionals, industry leaders, stakeholders, and regional partners. This gathering facilitated the strengthening of partnerships and underscored the distinctive cultural heritage and diverse offerings of each participating island nation, highlighting the essence of the Pacific spirit. As a founding member of the SPTO, Fiji reaffirmed its dedication to regionalism and its role as host country.
This year’s event marked a significant shift, as it was the first time a member country had organized the SPTE, previously held in New Zealand and Australia. The exceptional collaboration between key stakeholders, including the SPTO, MTCA, and Tourism Fiji, was instrumental in bringing this vision to fruition.
With the theme “Pacific Fusion: Celebrating Diverse Products and Cultures,” SPTE 2024 brought an energetic atmosphere to Port Denarau Marina and the Sheraton Fiji Golf & Beach Resort. In his opening address, Fiji’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Tourism, Hon. Viliame Gavoka, praised the SPTE as a pivotal event nurturing regional tourism development.
