The Regional Meteorological Department (RMC) has issued a red alert for four districts in Maharashtra, predicting extremely heavy rainfall on Sunday, July 14th. The alert covers Satara, Kolhapur, Sindhudurg, and Ratnagiri. The weather department has stated that “Heavy to very heavy rainfall in a few places with extremely heavy rainfall at isolated places very likely” in these districts.
An orange alert has been issued for Thane, Raigad, and Pune, indicating a high likelihood of heavy to very heavy rainfall in these regions. Mumbai and Palghar have been placed under a yellow alert, signifying the potential for moderate rainfall.
For July 15th, an orange alert has been issued for Palghar, Thane, Mumbai, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, Pune, Kolhapur, Satara, and Parbhani. The Vidarbha region is expected to experience moderate to heavy rainfall during this period.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has also issued red alerts for other regions, including Konkan and Goa, Coastal Karnataka, and South Interior Karnataka. Isolated extremely heavy rainfall is predicted in these areas from July 13th to 15th. Gujarat Region is expected to experience heavy rainfall on July 13th and 16th, with Saurashtra and Kutch facing similar conditions on July 16th and 17th.
The weather department has forecasted heavy to very heavy rainfall in Coastal Andhra Pradesh on July 13th, East Uttar Pradesh on July 13th, Chhattisgarh on July 13th and 14th, and Odisha on July 14th and 15th.
The IMD has also predicted widespread light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning over East and Northeast India for the next five days. Isolated very heavy rainfall is also likely in East Uttar Pradesh on July 13th.
The IMD has issued flood alerts for various regions. Low to moderate flash flood risk is anticipated in Southern parts of Gujarat Region, Konkan & Goa, and Coastal Karnataka. A low flash flood risk is also predicted in Southern parts of Assam and Meghalaya.
