Michael Colbruno Re-Elected as President of Oakland Port Commission

The Oakland Board of Port Commissioners has elected Michael Colbruno as their new President, marking his second term in this role. Colbruno, who initially joined the Port Commission in 2013, previously served as President from 2016 to 2017. He is among a select few openly-gay members on the board of a major U.S. seaport.

Andreas Cluver has taken over as First Vice President, succeeding Yui Hay Lee. Cluver has a history of leadership within the Port Board, having previously served as Second Vice President, President, and First Vice President. Barbara Leslie, the outgoing President, was elected Second Vice President. Leslie has also held various leadership positions within the Port Board since joining in 2018.

Colbruno expressed his commitment to continuing the Port’s growth and sustainability initiatives. He emphasized the importance of collaborating with staff and community stakeholders to achieve zero-emissions goals and attract new logistics operators to expand the Port’s commercial footprint.

Colbruno’s focus on environmental sustainability is a testament to his advocacy for the Port’s environmental initiatives. He will play a pivotal role in advancing the Port’s zero-emissions objectives.

In addition to his role at the Port Commission, Colbruno is a partner at California’s Milo Group, specializing in government affairs and public advocacy. His career has been marked by experience in legislative activities, intergovernmental advocacy initiatives, media relations, and community affairs across the Bay Area.

All three officers will serve for the next 12 months. The Port Board is comprised of seven members appointed by the City Council for four-year terms. Members must reside in Oakland during their tenure and serve voluntarily without salary or compensation.
