A captivating teaser trailer for ‘Dune: Prophecy’ has arrived, offering a glimpse into the ancient origins of the powerful Bene Gesserit and their rise to power. Set 10,000 years before the events of the iconic ‘Dune’, the prequel series delves into the intricate history of the Sisterhood, revealing the machinations and sacrifices they make to secure their influence within the vast Imperium.
The one-minute trailer showcases the Sisterhood wielding their control, with a chilling line from one of the sisters foreshadowing the inevitable consequences of their growing influence: “The more influence our Sisterhood gains, the more enemies we make.”
Leading the cast as the powerful sisters Valya and Tula Harkonnen are Emily Watson and Olivia Williams, respectively. The series also boasts a remarkable ensemble cast, including Travis Fimmel, Mark Strong, Jade Anouka, Chris Mason, Jodhi May, Josh Heuston, Tabu, Sarah-Sofie Boussnina, Chloe Lea, Faoileann Cunningham, Edward Davis, Aoife Hinds, Shalom Brune-Franklin, Camilla Beeput, Jihae, Charithra Chandran, Jessica Barden, Emma Canning, and Yerin Ha.
Alison Schapker serves as the showrunner and executive producer of ‘Dune: Prophecy,’ while Diane Ademu-John is a co-developer and executive producer. However, Ademu-John departed the project as a co-showrunner shortly after production commenced.
‘Dune: Prophecy’ is based on the acclaimed novels ‘Dune’ by Frank Herbert and ‘Sisterhood of Dune’ by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson. Initially branded as a Max Original, the series has now transitioned to an HBO Original, a shift that mirrors Warner Bros.’ rebranding strategy for several other shows, including ‘The Penguin,’ ‘Lanterns,’ ‘Welcome to Derry,’ and the upcoming ‘Harry Potter’ series.
‘Dune: Prophecy’ marks the second Dune project of the year, following the highly anticipated release of ‘Dune: Part Two,’ Denis Villeneuve’s epic sequel to the original ‘Dune’. ‘Dune: Part Two’ received universal acclaim and generated over $711 million in worldwide box office revenue. With ‘Dune: Part Two’ making a significant impact, the anticipation for ‘Dune: Prophecy’ is understandably high. The potential for a third installment, ‘Dune 3,’ is already in development, with a possible release date of December 2026.
