Vinita Singh, the visionary founder of Sugar Cosmetics, recognized this opportunity and set out to revolutionize the industry. Born in Gujarat’s Anand district, Vinita’s entrepreneurial spirit was evident from a young age. She excelled academically, graduating with an Electrical Engineering degree from IIT Madras in 2005, followed by an MBA from IIM Ahmedabad in 2007. Despite being offered a lucrative job with a Rs 1 crore salary at just 23 years old, Vinita’s entrepreneurial drive led her to reject the offer and pursue her own ventures.
While her first two startups faced setbacks, Vinita’s determination remained unwavering. In 2015, she launched Sugar Cosmetics, a direct-to-customer brand that catered specifically to Indian women’s beauty needs. Utilizing platforms like YouTube, Instagram, and the Sugar app, Vinita effectively marketed her products, building a strong brand identity. Starting with competitive pricing, Sugar Cosmetics gradually expanded its reach, now operating in over 130 cities across India. Within just eight years, the brand achieved a remarkable turnover exceeding Rs 500 crore, solidifying its position in the competitive cosmetics market.
Vinita’s husband, Kaushik Mukherjee, has been an integral part of this journey, providing unwavering support and contributing to the company’s growth. Beyond her business acumen, Vinita is also a passionate fitness enthusiast. She has participated in 20 marathons and ultra marathons, including the Mumbai Marathon while six months pregnant. Her dedication to fitness mirrors her approach to business—focused, disciplined, and fueled by a deep passion for creating something impactful.
