Vivek Ramaswamy, the Indian-American businessman-turned-politician, had a remarkable prediction eight months ago. He forecasted that US President Joe Biden would not be the Democratic Party’s nominee for the 2024 US Presidential election. This prediction has now come to fruition, just three weeks after Biden’s underwhelming performance at the June 27 debate with former US President Donald Trump. Biden, in a surprise announcement on Sunday, decided to forgo his bid for re-election and endorsed his deputy, Kamala Harris, to be the Democratic Party’s presidential nominee.
Ramaswamy, a 38-year-old Republican, took to social media to highlight his accurate prediction. He shared a video interview with Fox News from last November, soon after Biden first announced his intention to run for re-election. In the interview, Ramaswamy stated, “Best way to predict the future: just follow the incentives. It’s shocking how precisely right you can be, right down to the exact timing.” He explained that the managerial class around Biden had lost their faith in his leadership, a sentiment he had perceived since last year. He argued that Biden wasn’t the strongest candidate the Democrats could put forward and that they would eventually choose someone else.
Ramaswamy’s prediction has garnered significant attention and praise. Tesla CEO and X owner Elon Musk responded to Ramaswamy’s post, saying, “Yeah, all his predictions have come true.” Ramaswamy responded with a simple, “Wish it weren’t so.”
In his Fox News interview, Ramaswamy elaborated on his reasoning. He said, “I think that the reality is the managerial class around Biden has lost their use for him. This has been obvious to me since last year to play out the incentives. He is not the strongest candidate they can put up. And these people, they have stopped at nothing to keep Donald J Trump out of office.” At the time, Ramaswamy was a Republican presidential candidate in the primaries, competing against former president Donald Trump. He predicted that the Democrats would likely choose either Kamala Harris or Michelle Obama as their nominee.

For almost a year one man has been saying ‘Biden won’t be the Democratic nominee’ and predicting a last-minute blindside. People called him crazy.” Journalist Raheem Kassam echoed similar sentiments on X., saying, “‘I remember corporate media reporters sneering and laughing when Vivek Ramaswamy made this point in the debate. They’re not laughing now!”
