No Man’s Sky to Support PlayStation 5 Pro at Launch, Datamine Suggests

Recent datamine suggests that No Man’s Sky will be among the first games to support Sony’s upcoming mid-generation PlayStation 5 Pro console at launch. This discovery was made through the latest World’s Beyond update, where references to the PS5 Pro were found within the game’s source code. The PS5 Pro, codenamed ‘Trinity’, was revealed as a new graphical preset within No Man’s Sky’s code. The discovery was made by dataminers and shared by No Man’s Sky modder and reverse-engineering specialist @bomber_that on Twitter.

Comparing the graphics presets side-by-side, there’s a single noticeable difference: the PS5 Pro’s Trinity preset has a higher ‘lowest dynamic resolution scaling factor’ than the base PS5. This difference suggests that No Man’s Sky will benefit from improved dynamic scaling on the PS5 Pro, allowing for better frame rates without sacrificing visual quality.

Previous reports have hinted that the PlayStation 5 Pro will be powered by a higher-end RDNA 3 graphics processor, boosting rendering capabilities. However, the console isn’t just about raw power. It will also leverage a new proprietary technology called PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) for image upscaling and enhanced raytracing performance. Sony is expected to introduce a new ‘PS5 Pro Enhanced’ label for games that benefit from Trinity’s advanced technology.

For context, No Man’s Sky received full support for PS4 Pro Enhanced optimizations after its release, but wasn’t initially one of the enhanced games at the console’s launch. This early inclusion in the PS5 Pro’s lineup suggests that No Man’s Sky is being prioritized for the new hardware.
