Mumbai Bathed in Heavy Rains as IMD Issues Yellow Alert

Mumbai, the ‘Maximum City,’ woke up to heavy downpours on Tuesday, as the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a yellow alert for the city. The heavy rainfall is expected to continue throughout the day, with a possibility of wind speeds reaching 45-55 mph. The maximum and minimum temperatures in Mumbai are likely to remain around 28°C and 24°C, respectively, according to the Regional Meteorological Centre in Mumbai.

The IMD has issued a yellow alert for Mumbai until July 26, predicting heavy rainfall. Several other districts in Maharashtra, including Thane, Nandurbarh, Nasik, Palghar, Amravati, and Akola, are also on yellow alert on Tuesday, July 23. The IMD’s local forecast for Mumbai and its suburbs predicts moderate to heavy rain with the possibility of very heavy rain in isolated areas. Occasional gusty winds reaching 45-55 kmph are also very likely.

Meanwhile, the IMD has kept Maharashtra’s Ratnagiri and Satara on red alert for Tuesday, July 23, indicating heavy rainfall in the two districts. Raigad will be on red alert on Wednesday, July 24.
