The 2024 Paris Summer Games officially kick off today with a spectacular opening ceremony that marks a departure from tradition. For the first time, the City of Light will be hosting the opening ceremony not within a stadium, but with a mesmerizing display of athletes floating down the Seine River. Google Doodle is celebrating the start of the Games with an animated Doodle showcasing the unique opening ceremony. This year’s Summer Olympics will see athletes from over 200 countries competing in 329 events across 32 sports disciplines. The Games are scheduled to run until August 11th, marking the 33rd edition of this quadrennial spectacle.
