An Iraqi judoka, Sajjad Sehen, has been suspended from the Paris Olympics after testing positive for two anabolic steroids. The International Testing Agency (ITA) announced on Friday that the 28-year-old, participating in his first Olympic Games, tested positive for metandienone and boldenone in a sample taken on Tuesday.
Sehen, who was scheduled to compete in the men’s 81-kilogram class starting next Tuesday, has been provisionally suspended pending a disciplinary case. The ITA, responsible for the anti-doping program for the International Olympic Committee, stated that the suspension prevents the athlete from competing, training, or participating in any Olympic activities.
Sehen was set to face an opponent from Uzbekistan in the round of 32. His suspension marks another doping case at the Paris Olympics, highlighting the ongoing fight against performance-enhancing drug use in sports.
