Sanders: Harris Needs to Focus on Working Class to Defeat Trump

Sen. Bernie Sanders, in an exclusive interview with Fox News Digital, believes Vice President Kamala Harris needs to focus on working-class issues to defeat Donald Trump in the 2024 presidential election. He argues that Harris needs to make it clear what she will do for working families to ensure their support.

Sanders, who is campaigning for Harris but has not formally endorsed her, is making a two-day swing through New Hampshire and Maine to rally support for the Vice President. He believes the upcoming election is crucial and will do everything in his power to defeat Trump.

He emphasizes that Harris needs to address concerns like high prescription drug costs, tax reform, child care, affordable housing, and climate change. Sanders believes these issues are relevant to working-class voters and that Harris should prioritize them in her campaign.

He also addressed comments from Trump who has been trying to label Harris as an ultra-liberal. Sanders dismissed these claims and said that Harris is not more progressive than him. He believes Trump’s attacks are part of his usual pattern of lying and that the American people will not accept a president who is a pathological liar and does not believe in democracy.

Sanders believes that Harris’ choice of a running mate, expected in the next two weeks, will be a strong indicator of whether she will project a progressive agenda. He hopes she will choose a progressive individual who will be a good fit as vice president.

The discussion comes as President Biden has suspended his re-election campaign, paving the way for Harris to become the Democratic nominee. Harris has secured the support of a majority of delegates and has received endorsements from prominent figures like former President Barack Obama and Michelle Obama.

While Harris has gained significant support, Republicans have criticized the process, calling it undemocratic and a coup. They argue that Biden ignored the millions of votes he received in the Democratic primaries. However, Sanders disagrees with this assessment, stating that the Democrats had to act quickly given the circumstances of Biden’s withdrawal. He believes Harris’ swift announcement and rally of support are a valid process.
