Nikhat Zareen Begins Paris Olympics Campaign with Dominant Win

Indian boxer Nikhat Zareen made a triumphant start to her Olympic campaign at the Paris Olympics, defeating Germany’s Maxi Carina Kloetzer in the women’s 50kg division Round of 32. The bout took place at the North Paris Arena on July 28th. Zareen’s dominance was evident as she secured a unanimous points victory, with the judges scoring 5-0 in her favor.

This victory marks Zareen’s maiden Olympic appearance after missing out on the Tokyo 2020 Games following a loss in the trials to Mary Kom. Since then, the two-time world champion has continued her impressive run, adding two more world titles, a Commonwealth Games gold medal, and an Asian Games bronze medal to her impressive resume.

Zareen’s next challenge awaits in the form of top-seeded Chinese boxer Wu Yu, a World champion in the 52kg division. The highly anticipated clash is scheduled for Thursday, July 29th, at 2.30 pm IST. The Indian boxer will be looking to carry her momentum forward and continue her quest for Olympic glory in Paris.
