The Indian Institute of Management (IIM)-Calcutta has officially opened the registration window for the Common Admission Test (CAT) 2024. This marks the beginning of the admission process for aspiring management professionals seeking entry into various postgraduate and Fellow/Doctorate programs at the prestigious IIMs across India.
Candidates interested in pursuing these programs can apply online through the official IIM CAT website, iimcat.ac.in. The registration period commences on August 1st at 10:00 AM and will conclude on September 13th at 3:00 PM. To participate in the selection process, candidates are required to maintain a unique and valid email account and a mobile phone number.
The CAT 2024 exam is scheduled for November 24th and will be conducted in a computer-based format (CBT) across approximately 170 test cities. Candidates will have the opportunity to select their preferred test cities from a list provided, with the option to choose up to five cities in order of preference. The final list of exam cities may be subject to changes based on the discretion of the CAT authorities.
For those keen on applying, the eligibility criteria include holding a Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 50% marks or an equivalent CGPA. Candidates belonging to the Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), and Persons with Disability (PwD) categories require a minimum of 45% marks. Individuals in their final year of a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification, as well as those awaiting results after completing degree requirements, are also eligible. However, if selected, these candidates will be required to submit a certificate confirming completion of all degree requirements by the date of certificate issuance.
The registration fee for CAT 2024 is ₹ 2,500 for general category candidates. Candidates belonging to SC, ST, and PwD categories are eligible for a reduced fee of ₹ 1,250. It’s important to note that the registration fee is payable only once, regardless of the number of institutes a candidate applies to. Once paid, the fees are non-refundable under any circumstances.
IIM Calcutta is expected to release the admit cards tentatively between November 5th and 24th. The results of the CAT 2024 exam are anticipated to be announced in the second week of January 2025, following the examination in November.
For the previous year’s CAT 2023, the exam calendar was released on August 2nd, with the exam conducted on November 26th. A total of 3.28 lakh candidates registered for the exam, out of which approximately 2.88 lakh candidates appeared for the test.
