Microsoft has released a new update to its Windows 11 Insider program, focusing on improving the integration between Android and Windows PCs. The company has been diligently working to enhance the connection between smartphones and Windows PCs through its Phone Link app, and this latest update introduces a significant improvement. Now, Insider program participants can access their Android device’s files directly within Windows File Explorer, offering a seamless file management experience.
To utilize this new functionality, users must have an Android device running Android 11 or a later version and the Phone Link app installed, specifically beta version 1.24071 or higher. Enabling this feature is straightforward: navigate to Settings > Bluetooth & Devices > Mobile Devices > Manage Devices, and then activate the option to display the connected smartphone within File Explorer. Once enabled, users gain access to their device’s files, enabling them to add, remove, and reorganize files wirelessly.
It’s important to note that files deleted through the Phone Link app will be moved to the smartphone’s recycle bin, not the Windows PC’s recycle bin. This ensures a consistent file management experience across both devices.
