Audio-Technica (A-T) has introduced a new pair of powered bookshelf speakers, the AT-SP3X, designed to complement the company’s entry-level turntables. Priced at $199, these speakers offer both wired and wireless connectivity, making them a versatile option for music lovers.
One of the key features of the AT-SP3X is their built-in preamp, eliminating the need for a separate phono preamp when connecting a turntable. This makes them an ideal companion to Audio-Technica’s AT-LP70X turntable series, offering a streamlined and affordable audio setup.
Beyond turntables, the speakers feature stereo RCA jacks for connecting other analog sources. They also boast Bluetooth connectivity with Multipoint support, allowing you to stream music from your smartphone or computer. For wired connections from a computer, you can use a 3.5mm-to-RCA patch cord or opt for a higher-quality audio signal by adding an external USB-based DAC/amp.
Each speaker houses a 3-inch woofer and a 1.1-inch tweeter, meticulously tuned by a built-in DSP to deliver powerful and balanced sound for music, movies, and more. The combined power output is rated at 30 watts.
Operation is simple and straightforward. The primary speaker features a power button with an LED indicator and a volume control knob. The speakers come bundled with an AC adapter featuring three international plug adapters and a 6.6-foot speaker cable for connecting the left and right units.
While the included images showcase angled speaker stands, Audio-Technica has not yet disclosed where these stands can be purchased or their cost. We have contacted the company for further information.
