Amazon has unveiled its August Prime Gaming lineup, and it’s packed with enticing titles, including some Square Enix classics. One standout is the cyberpunk RPG Deux Ex: Mankind Divided, which offers a satisfying blend of stealth, exploration, and action. Deus Ex, renowned for its immersive sim mechanics, allows players to tackle challenges in multiple ways – from stealthy infiltration to head-on combat, hacking, lockpicking, and even weaponizing enemies. While a new Deus Ex game might be on the minds of many, the future of the franchise is uncertain. Square Enix sold off series developer Eidos Montreal, along with Crystal Dynamics and Square Enix Montreal, to Embracer Group in 2022. Unfortunately, Embracer initiated layoffs and restructuring in 2023, leading to the cancellation of an in-development Deus Ex game, according to Bloomberg.
But August’s Prime Gaming offerings don’t stop at Deus Ex. Two older Tomb Raider titles, The Angel of Darkness from 2003 and The Last Revelation + Chronicles from 1999 and 2000, are also available. Adding to the RPG flavor, Baldur’s Gate 2 joins last month’s free Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition. And for those seeking a captivating roguelike experience, Loop Hero stands out with its addictive gameplay loop.
As with all Prime Gaming offerings, these games are free for Prime subscribers and are yours to keep permanently. They are available on various platforms, so make sure to check GOG, Epic Games, or the Amazon app for availability.
