Sachin Waze Alleges Bribery by Former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh

Dismissed Mumbai Assistant Police Inspector Sachin Waze, accused in the ₹100 crore extortion case, has made startling allegations against former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh. Waze claims to have submitted evidence of alleged bribes taken by Deshmukh to Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.

Waze, who was also accused in the 2021 Antilia bomb scare and Mansukh Hiren murder case, told ANI that he has written a letter to Fadnavis, providing all the evidence related to the alleged bribes. He further stated that the money allegedly went through Deshmukh’s personal assistant and that the CBI possesses proof. He also named NCP-SP leader Jayant Patil in his letter.

Adding fuel to the fire, Waze alleged that Fadnavis had approached him three years ago and asked him to write four affidavits against Uddhav Thackeray, Aaditya Thackeray, Ajit Pawar, and Anil Parab. He claims that Fadnavis promised that if he complied, he would be protected from investigations by the ED and CBI. Fadnavis vehemently denied these allegations, stating that he wouldn’t spare anyone making personal accusations against him.

The allegations come against the backdrop of ongoing legal battles against both Deshmukh and Waze. Deshmukh was arrested by the ED in 2021 in an alleged money laundering case and spent several months in jail. Meanwhile, Waze was arrested by the NIA in March 2021 in connection with the investigation into the recovery of explosives from a car parked near Mukesh Ambani’s house in Mumbai.

These accusations have further intensified the political turmoil in Maharashtra, with each side accusing the other of corruption and manipulation. The state’s political landscape remains volatile, with the ongoing investigations likely to have significant implications for the future of Maharashtra politics.
