Indian Embassy Issues Alert for Nationals in Bangladesh Amidst Fresh Violence

The Indian Embassy in Bangladesh has issued an advisory to Indian nationals residing in the country, urging them to remain alert. This comes amidst a fresh wave of violence in the South Asian nation, leaving over 32 people dead and hundreds injured.

The advisory, posted on X (formerly known as Twitter) by the Indian Embassy in Sylhet, specifically targets Indian nationals and students living in the jurisdiction of the Assistant High Commission of India, Sylhet. They are requested to stay in touch with the embassy and remain vigilant.

In addition to the advisory, the Indian Embassy has also provided a helpline number for emergencies: +88-01313076402.

This latest wave of violence erupted on Sunday as police responded to tens of thousands of protesters demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. The police employed tear gas and stun grenades to disperse the crowds, resulting in the deaths and injuries.
