India experienced a mixed bag of results on Day 10 of the 2024 Paris Olympics. While the women’s table tennis team celebrated a victory, badminton and shooting saw disappointments.
In the men’s singles badminton bronze medal match, Lakshya Sen faced a tough challenge against Zii Jia Lee of Malaysia. Despite taking the first game, Sen ultimately fell short, losing 21-13, 16-21, 11-21. This defeat dashed India’s hopes for another medal in the sport.
However, there was cause for celebration in the table tennis arena. The Indian women’s team, comprising Manika Batra, Archana Kamath, and Sreeja Akula, fought hard to overcome Romania in a close 3-2 victory. This win secured their spot in the quarterfinal stage of the tournament.
Meanwhile, the Indian mixed skeet team of Maheswari Chauhan and Anant Jeet Singh Naruka narrowly missed out on a bronze medal. They lost to China 43-44 in a closely fought match.
On the athletics track, Pahal Kiran participated in the women’s 400m Round 1. Despite a strong effort, Kiran finished with a time of 52.51 seconds, failing to qualify for the next round.
In the wrestling ring, Nisha Dahiya brought some positive news. In the women’s freestyle 68kg 1/8 Final, Dahiya defeated Tetiana Sova Rizhko of Ukraine with a score of 6-4, advancing to the next stage of the competition.
The Indian contingent continues its fight for medals at the Paris Olympics, and the upcoming days promise more exciting competitions.
